ABOUT CLEAR CREEK METRO PARK

The Clear Creek Metro Park, part of the Franklin County Metro Parks system, is one of the most pristine and secluded natural areas in Central Ohio. The park extends the length of the Clear Creek Valley, extending from the confluence of Clear Creek and the Hocking River in the East, and the town of Revenge, OH in the West.

The Clear Creek Valley is the product of glacial flooding, cutting the valley through the surrounding Black Hand sandstone. Ongoing erosion has created an extremely rugged terrain with many steep ravines, rock outcroppings, and cliff faces which overlook the Clear Creek.

A mix of prairie in the West and Appalachian forest in the East, the park is home to Ohio’s last remaining colonies of Rhododendron, while also consisting of Canadian hemlocks and ferns and Oak and Hickory trees. Due to overlapping geological and climactic zones, the geography of Clear Creek has produced unique habitats for more than 1,200 native plant species. With more than 15 miles of trails, visitors may encounter many different animal species including turkey, deer, grouse, coyote, black vultures, beaver, and bobcat.
