Touch the Earth Adventures are a local company that specializes in ethical vacations that seek to put visitors in touch with nature. They do it in such a way as to not alienate those who aren’t as into nature as others, making them a viable vacation provider for all the family.
While the emphasis is definitely about getting close to nature and the earth, it isn’t jammed down your throat like many other companies of its kind. That makes all the difference as far as we’re concerned as those other types can be off-putting. We have heard nothing bad about Touch the Earth Adventures.
The company runs day trips, retreats, birding and full moon kayaking trips. They are detailed, imaginative and well led, making for a great time away from the world.
Day Trips
Touch the Earth Adventures day trips include sunrise kayaking, Easter egg hunts, river trips, kayaking trips to other areas and much more. You can hire equipment through the company or bring your own, making it instantly accessible to anyone.
Retreats
The retreats runs by Touch the Earth Adventures include women only adventures, longer kayaking trips and seasonal activities. Fall hikes are a firm favorite and are a great way to experience Hocking Hills at its best.
While all of our hiking trails are suitable for a range of abilities, having an experienced guide makes all the difference. They can tell you what you’re seeing, fill in the history of our area and point out things you might never have seen.
Birding
The birding excursions are led by a professional bird watcher and are taking either on foot or by kayak in either Stroud’s Run State Park or Lake Logan. Again, you can use your own kayak or hire one.
A local bird expert leads the way and provides identification and literature about what you’re seeing, or about to see. The pace is slow and steady and is suitable for all age ranges and abilities.
Full Moon Kayaking
Anyone who hasn’t tried a river by night should do so as soon as they can. Touch the Earth Adventures offers moonlit paddles in either Stroud’s Run State Park, Hoover Reservoir, or Lake Logan. They are well worth a try. You haven’t enjoyed a river until you have paddled along it at night.
While a lot of women favor Touch the Earth Adventures, men are welcome too. There are exceptions with the women only trips, but apart from that, men are welcomed. The people who run Touch the Earth Adventures are professional, welcoming and inclusive. They provide a solid vacation option in Hocking Hills and we wish them every success.
